CBD for PTSD – Can CBD Help PTSD Sufferers?

One of the most beneficial anti-anxiety helpers is CBD, or cannabidiol. Containing important properties that help to reduce the effects of PTSD, also known as post-traumatic stress disorder, CBD is considered a safe alternative to marijuana as it does not contain the same psychoactive effects of marijuana. PTSD and CBD often go together because PTSD sufferers often turn to marijuana, and can find a better remedy through CBD as it will not cause paranoia, psychosis, or any sort of “high” symptoms that are associated with marijuana.

What is CBD?

CBD is the shortened version of cannabidiol, a special type of extract from the hemp plant. Unlike tetracannabinoids, or THC, CBD does not cause psychoactive symptoms and actually has shown to be preventative of paranoia and odd feelings that comes with THC use. CBD still has a negative stigma associated it with because it comes from the same plant — which is cannabis. However, CBD cannot cause a high, no matter how much you take.

How CBD Can Help PTSD Sufferers

CBD is not a perfect fix for PTSD sufferers. Those dealing with PTSD symptoms will still need therapy. However, CBD can help alleviate anxiety and panic episodes that are a result of PTSD. The effects of CBD in reducing PTSD symptoms have been shown through a number of scientific studies, as evidenced by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This is due to the ability of CBD to alter brain chemistry, helping to minimize stress and anxiety. Stress hormones tend to flare up during PTSD-induced episodes, making CBD an effective remedy.

CBD as a Remedy for Concentration Problems and Traumatic Episodes

When issues of keeping focus and concentration arise from struggles to deal with war-based trauma, CBD for PTSD can help. Some veterans have reported being able to better work through relationships, work, and school tasks thanks to the use of cannabidiol. While most veterans still turn to marijuana as a way of alleviating symptoms, cannabidiol is a safer choice since it does not cause psychoactive symptoms. In addition, CBD has powerful antioxidant benefits, helping to keep overall health and wellness at its prime.

CBD Legality

CBD is legal throughout the world though it is controlled in Canada. However, CBD does face a large stigma because it is associated with cannabis. However, CBD is considered legal since it does not contain the same chemical makeup as THC, which is what marijuana contains.

How CBD Prevents PTSD Symptoms

CBD has a number of known benefits in preventing PTSD symptoms. Thanks to its ability to act on the central nervous system, CBD works as an anti-convulsant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety formula. CBD is consumable through the use of a “vape” or a special type of inhaling device that lets you breathe in CBD oil. This works to move the cannabidiol directly to your system, letting its effects take place as soon as you begin to ingest it.

CBD has been shown only to cause desirable effects and has little to no side effects at all. It has also been found effective at treating psychotic episodes, anxiety attacks, panic episodes, depression, stress, and other mental ailments. As HealthyHempOil.com points out, CBD is actually capable of amplifying all cannabinoid effects on the brain and body.

CBD’s Effects on the Endocannabinoid Receptors

CBD works by acting on the endocannabinoid system, the area of the body that controls mental and physiological process that naturally take place. This part of our bodies includes two important receptors: CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are contained in the lungs, kidneys, liver, and primarily int he brain, while CB2 receptors are found in the immune system. Cannabinoids such as CBD bind with these receptors to help boost a sense of positive mood and well-being, reducing stress and anxiety.

Additional Benefits

CBD for PTSD symptoms is also known to help in creating positive mood, better breathing, and even better heart rate and pulse. When you use CBD oil, you may find that PTSD episodes become less frequent. CBD even helps boost hair, nail, and skin health, keeping you feeling and looking younger which helps to restore self-confidence after traumatic incidents.

Unlike with marijuana, the benefits of CBD are long-ranging. There are no side effects or unpleasant psychoactive moments — so you won’t get high from using CBD, while you will still enjoy a sense of peace, calm, and relaxation even in the worst moments of PTSD. As a way of helping to alleviate symptoms, CBD is truly effective.

  1. For the past year I have suffered from deteriorating relationships due to my physical pain, anxiety, depression, and psychosis like behavior, partly due to an amphetamine addiction I had sustained years ago. That addiction ended a year ago, but I have been left with PTSD like symptoms that severely get in the way of me even buying something from the grocery store, at times. However, with cbd product that is turned right around. Since I have begun using cbd, I have literally rekindled friendships with at least ten friends and family members, and made a good six more friends, something I have not done in a while. CBD allows me to relax into my own skin and just be myself, so I can connect with people, which is what I truly want from life. Thank you CBD Pure water soluble products. – John
